This blog devoited for discussion among theemplyees working in BPO.

Approximately three lakh employees of BPOs and their parents ask the same question -- "Is there life and career after a BPO job?"
Let us realise that the BPO industry can provide a career within the industry -- for at least another 10 years or more. You could grow into "non process" jobs -- in HR, in quality and in customer management, etc. But many may find nightshift a barrier and may want to quit the industry after some time.
What are the career options after a BPO job?
The first option is to study further -- maybe an MBA or a course in quality or a course in customer service.
The second option is to join any organisation, which is `process centric' and can utilise your exposure and acceptance of a `performance culture.' For example in our recruitment industry that employs over 10,000 professionals -- many are self employed and would love to lead a BPO team that would hire people. The telephony skills can be useful in `head hunting'. Service industries like hospitality, health care, telecom and financial services will hire BPO professionals.
But there is a catch. One must realise that the BPO industry compensation is high because it is expert oriented and earns in dollars and because it is night shift oriented. You may have to take a cut in salary. You may also have to readjust to the realities of that industry. Perks like gym, coffee shops and billiard table will be missing. But these industries are also growing very fast, and one can easily make up for the dip in salary, within a few months.
